Antique or Ancient Sculpture of a medieval knight, Carved from Gloucestershire Pink Sedimentary stone.
The sculpture is homage to a knight or soldier who died in battle. It would have likely have originated from a monastery or church, perhaps demolished during the period 1530-60 during the Reformation, that unleashed terrible destruction of religious heritage and art.
Academic opinion dates the sculpture to the 1400s or earlier.
