Made at Pangbourne Public School in the 1940s or 50s, this magnificently crafted model is made of oak for the hull and deck, other woods for the masts, engineered brass and other metals for the guns, torpedo launchers, depth charge launchers, rails, prop and many other parts. The portholes are small circles of glass, each bounded by a circular brass frame. The guns and torpedo launchers rotate. All the rigging is present and intact. The interior housed an electic motor which is present but needs the appropriate battery and re-fixing in place. The propellor drives are in place and working well. One of the two brass propellors is missing, and a hatch cover has been replaced by a grey plastic cover. One of the two forward anchors is not present. Additional photos supplied on request.
The original oak stand fits the keel perfectly.
It is 60 inches long and 27 inches high. 10 inches wide at the bridge. It weighs about 40 lbs
