Unique late nineteenth century lamp base in the form
of a ship's capstan adorned with anchors, telescopes,
mast and sail, trident, oar, pike, axes, hammer, rigging
and pulley blocks,1880s style sailors hat. Gilded and
silvered thoughout.
Made as an exhibition item, or perhaps a presentation piece to
someone who was valued in the naval or marine world.
Circa 1880. 12 inches high x 9.5 inches diameter.
