An important collection of paintings by Sir William Russell Flint are to be offered by Young & Son.

A collection of over fourty paintings by the Scottish born Royal Academician, Sir William Russell Flint RA, PRSW 1880- 1969, whose paintings are among the most sought after in the world, are to be offered by Young & Son. They have been put together over a period of sixty years by a collector who knew the artist. They comprise large figurative works, beach scenes, alpine ski scenes, landscapes, including two of Malta, arcadian scenes, red chalk drawings of dancers and models, some of the original water colour illustrations for Malory's Le Morte D'Arthur, the Pirates of Penzance and others. Paintings relating to historically important events such as a large waterclour depicting the work of the Girls of the Women's Land Army re-formed from WWI in 1939, and an oil painting of unarmed peasant women defending the entrance of the Church at the time of the Spanish Civil War.
