Carved oak frame, probably made by the artist whose painting was housed in it. Very much Arts and Crafts period, around 1890-1900. The gold leaf gilding is the original, having been given a light clean to bring it back to its original splendour.
The dimensions are 20.5 inches x 36 inches and just over an inch thick. It would look great as a mirror, with a 19th century piece of mirror glass inserted. It can go landscape or portrait.
